Twin Peaks SNL Sketch
Twin Peaks Postcard

I was scanning some of my Lynch related stuff to put on Flickr, and for the hell of it, checked YouTube to see if the SNL parody sketch starring Kyle MacLachlan has been posted. MacLachlan hosted SNL the same month that the first episode of Twin Peaks season two was airing. People were going nuts trying to figure out who really killed Laura Palmer, plus there were a lot of cliff-hangers at the end of season one. If you know the show, I think you'll get a kick out of this.



Also, in 1987 Dennis Hopper hosted SNL because his role in Blue Velvet "resurrected" his career. In that SNL, there's a skit where Frank Booth has a game show. Unforch, I couldn't find that on YouTube):

most of the jokes are lifted straight from the show. I wonder what Lynch thought of it all

I bet he was cool about it. Actually, MacLachlan's opening monologue included "David Lynch" calling the show to make sure Kyle didn't reveal the killer.

I actually saw some footage of Dennis Hopper reacting to the news he was nominated for an Oscar that year (can't remember where), and of course he's not really surprised about being nominated -- but you can see he gets kind of surprised when he realizes he was nominated for HOOSIERS, not Blue Velvet. (Which was obvs. because the Academy probably Lynch was a little too weird to include in mainstream nominations. The Oscars are lame!)

I remember that sketch, especially Conan O' Brien's awkward cameo in it. I saw it a few years ago when one of the cable channels showed nineties episodes of SNL.
